Draining over 1,000 square miles from its headwaters in the Chequamegon National Forest to the unique wetland estuary where it empties into Lake Superior, the Bad River is truly one of Northern Wisconsin's most pristine natural resources.

The access provided by the Superior Guides and Outfitters river camp allows anglers a chance to hunt trophy smallmouth and muskies in a setting more reminiscent of southern Alaska than northern Wisconsin.

Bad River muskies have NOT been subject to the influence of hatchery genetics, and are as wild a specimen as an angler could ever hope to encounter. The absence of human influence allows these fish to exist naturally and the abundance of food can grow them to tremendous size.

Superior Guides and Outfitters take this exclusive access very seriously and great care is taken when pursuing and subduing the river's residents so that they can be released unharmed to fight again another day.

Day trips to the river are available, but spending multiple nights in the river camp takes the experience to another level. Waking up to a pot of camp coffee and breakfast along the banks of the Bad River with nothing more pressing to do than hunt for its wild predator fish is the ultimate way to unplug from the never-ending pace of today's society.

In the Bad River Watershed

Not Your Average Fishing Trips!

For a unique and memorable fishing experience in one of Northwestern Wisconsin's most pristine and remote area's, we welcome you to join us for an exciting adventure in the backwoods of Northern Wisconsin. We offer wilderness river fishing for Smallmouth Bass, Muskie, and Walleye. We base our trips from a remote wilderness spike camp located about ten miles South of the Lake Superior shoreline. The camp is on private property owned by the Outfitter and consists of Wall tents and sleeping tents, cook tent, fire pit, outdoor grills. Excellent meals are prepared by the Campjack/cook utilizing the open fire, grill's and cook tent. The Guides take the fisherman out on the river over the course of the day, and after the days fishing are returned to camp for a fantastic fireside meal served by the camp cook. Sitting around the campfire at night with the campjack and guides is definitely part of the fun, and plenty of storie's go around the fire pit anticipating the next day's fishing. We offer a few variations of this trip to choose from to suit the particular needs of individual fisherman. We welcome conventional tackle fisherman as well as Fly fishing enthusiasts as fly fishing for Muskie and Smallmouth Bass is definitely gaining popularity. For your next Northern Wisconsin fishing adventure, whether your fishing for Muskie, Smallmouth or Walleye…this will be a trip to remember and you'll be sure to come back..again and again.

Plan A (Daily Rate)
Clients provide their own meals and lodging in nearby Ashland, WI. The Guides will pick up the clients in Ashland in the early morning, then we have a 30 minute drive by truck, and a additional 20 to 30 minutes by ATV or Jeep to get down to our river bottom camp where the boats are landed. A 7 to 8 hour trip on the river will follow. At the end of the day the clients are returned to Ashland.

Wilderness fishing camp in Northern Wisconsin

Plan B
Clients are lodged down at the river bottom camp with 2 guides and a campjack/cook. This is in one of the most remote area's of Northwestern Wisconsin. Located on a high knob overlooking the river, the camp consists of Wall tents and sleeping tents, cook tent, fire pit, outdoor grills. Excellent meals are prepared by the campjack and cook utilizing the grills and cook tent. The Guides take the clients fishing out on the river over the course of the day and return to camp in time for a great dinner and campfire. Clients are provided their own private quarters…this is truly a beautiful area to spend some time fishing and have a great time!
